This week we are delving into one of the big design trends of 2022, Texture. It’s the trend everybody is talking about. Learn about the trend and why it’s set to be so big. Then let us show you which of our textured blinds will help you achieve the look in your home interiors.
What is Texture?
There’s something so aesthetically pleasing about interiors with a good balance of different textures. Texture is a buzzword in interior design, but what exactly does it mean? Texture is literally an object's physical touch or visual appearance. Interesting textures aren’t only pleasing to look at, but when you contrast them, they’re great providers of balance too. Textured interiors are trending this year on social media and across the interior design world as a whole.
Over the last couple of years we have all spent lots more time at home than we did previously, this has led to people spending more money revamping their homes. The texture trend is one of the easiest to get on board with and with just a few new additions to your home you really can nail the look.

How do I get the look?
Layering in interior design is key to producing a look that’s rich in different textures. Blending multiple sources of texture so that you’re not relying on just fabric or furniture finishes is key to getting the look just right. Wooden or metal furniture pieces can complement different soft furnishings like your sofa, cushions, throws, curtains and rugs. There are so many ways to get the balance right for your space. It’s nice to mix the types of fabrics being used, for example a velvet fabric sofa with a cotton or fur throw.
Introducing new textures to pieces of furniture you already have at home is a really cost effective and sustainable way to get the look. If you have wooden toned shelving or tables, these pieces all add to the finish. You could dress your table with a linen table runner and seagrass place settings and voilà, you have got the look!
Neutral colour palettes work best with this trend, you want to keep the different textures in complementary shades rather than clashing colour combos. This will stop your space becoming overwhelmed with too much going on.
Adding plants into your home is a great way to pull in another texture for your space. Whether you’re going for easy to maintain succulents or you have green fingers and want to pull in something more exoctic, plants again are an easy way to add a layer to your interiors.
