Natural linen and linen look fabrics are generally semi-transparent, so unlined linen curtains will let light through and may not provide full privacy, particularly when backlit at night. The level of transparency depends on the weight of the fabric — lighter linen weaves will be more sheer, while heavier linen offers more opacity. If privacy is important, lined linen curtains give you the natural texture and look of linen with better coverage.
Some linen curtains can be machine washed on a gentle, cool cycle, however due to the high-quality fabrics and poly/cotton lining used in our curtains, machine washing isn't recommended as it can damage the delicate fabric and cause the dye to bleed. For regular upkeep, vacuum your curtains every fortnight using an upholstery attachment. For creases, use a steamer or iron on a steam setting held away from the fabric surface. If you have a stubborn stain, gently blot with a clean cold damp cloth — avoid stain remover or detergent as this can affect the dye. For anything more stubborn, dry cleaning is the best option.
