Which is better PVC or Aluminium blinds?

Aluminium and PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), are two very common materials used in manufacturing blinds.  We’ll take you through the pros and cons of each material and where they are used.

Aluminium

Our UK manufactured, metal venetian blinds are produced from aluminium and are both durable and light with the bonus of being rust-free and slim in profile.  None of our own venetian blinds are made from plastic, which is the common material used in the cheaper Chinese-made venetians in the marketplace.

For uPVC windows and doors, we also have Perfect Fit aluminium venetians, which can be perfect for areas where a space-saving is important.   Perfect Fit Venetians utilise clips that slip under the window bead and feature a slim frame to mount the blind.  We also manufacture another type of ‘easy-fit’ blind, called Neat Fit, that combines the practicality of our aluminium slats with top and bottom bars that slat underneath the beading.  Both options are drill-free, child-safe by design and due to the wide array of options, are a highly popular choice for the home.

Aluminium venetian blinds are also great solar-control blinds, where the curve of the slat and the reflective nature of the metal, reflect harmful UV rays outward.

PVC

Roller Blinds and Vertical Blinds can also be made from a durable PVC fabric, which adds blackout, waterproof and flame-retardant features and can come in a wide array of colours and finishes to suit.  PVC fabrics are also a great option for kitchen and busy areas, as due to the nature of the material they do not hold on to odours as much as other fabrics.  These combined features make PVC blinds amongst our most popular, with added pattern and colour variations adding to their appeal.

In recent years, increased attention on sustainability and environmental impact has expended the use of PVC into other areas, with our most popular wooden and shutter blinds being produced from PVC.
