Can blinds be safe in a nursery

A concern for us as a blind manufacturer is ensuring that all our products are safe for years to come for everyone. Since 2014, all our products come with free safety measures, so customers can select the products that are safest for the room.

One area we have focused on is child safety. If you are dressing a nursery, our blinds have features that make them safe around children

What are the safety measures to consider when decorating a nursery?

There are some basic safety measures when thinking about the layout and theme of a nursery as you fit your blinds. Here is a look at some of them:
  • Ensure cots, boxes and any climbable furniture are positioned away from windows and cords if you can.
  • All our corded blinds, such as vertical or roller blinds, come with fixable cord tidies for free. Fit the tidy immediately to the wall and ensure the cords are taut but allow some give for movement.
If you are fixing a blind high up and require longer control chains, we provide extended chains with a ‘break-away’ fixture. This means that under pressure, the chain will snap at the fixture point.

Electric blinds are also a brilliant way to get the look you want, and these come without chains or cords, making them a safe option. Select either a wand or remote operation for a practical, modern finish to the nursery.

What are the safest blinds?

The safest blinds we have are our ‘cordless’ Neat Fit and Perfect Fit roller and venetian blinds. As they are fitted to the window by brackets that slide under the window beading and clipped in, these binds are child-safe by design. Plus, no cord tidies or extra drilling are required.

If you would like to fit vertical blinds, we would also recommend our sealed-weight option, which removes the usual bottom chains.
