5 Halloween Party Ideas

We all can agree that adapting your home interior for every special occasion and holiday can be quite pricy and time consuming, especially when we have the big spender ahead (yes, Christmas!). No matter how hard we try to avoid unnecessary spending, we still end up buying themed food, drinks, decorations, napkins and the list goes on.

We gathered 5 tips to help you make this Halloween party preparation easier, cheaper and most importantly stress-free.

 1. Colours of Autumn 2017 – your Halloween theme.

The first and the most exciting news all proud homeowners and Halloween lovers will be pleased to know is that this year colours including Autumn Maple, Golden Lime and Tawny Port have been announced by Pantone Colour Institute as colours of the Autumn 2017.

hese colours will go great with a Halloween theme and will make a perfect base for your Halloween decoration. So, it’s time to take out your décor accessories such as throws, pillows, table cloths, candles, blinds and curtains in purple, green and orange colours, and use them for you Halloween party or a dinner.

If you don’t have accessories in those colours, buying them will be a good investment. Small or big elements in purple, green and orange will make your home look trendy both at your Halloween party and once it is over.

If you’re interested in freshening up your window dressing, at Direct Blinds, we have a wide range of orange, purple, green and even black blinds and curtains to please any taste.

2. Pumpkin flesh – waste or a treat?

This Halloween, make the most of your pumpkin flesh. Don’t waste them after carving, instead use those for your Halloween party dinner and make a delicious pumpkin pie, soup or even ice cream. The world of gastronomy offers plenty of delicious recipes with pumpkin, which you’ll be able to find online. This will not only save your food costs, but will also bring the Halloween spirit into your home.

In addition, eating pumpkin has a number of health benefits, including it boosts your immune system, supports eye and heart health, protects your skin and is great food for those dieting. Regardless of whether you have a kids’ party or a family dinner, pumpkin meals will be a delicious and healthy option.

When carving pumpkins, ensure to wash your hands and use clean tools to remove flesh. You can make a pumpkin puree or cubes to store your pumpkin in the freezer until the Halloween dinner or later.

If you aren’t into healthy eating and dismiss pumpkin dishes as an option, why not to use remaining pumpkin flesh for your beauty products. You can make pumpkin body scrub, face mask and more.

3. Halloween Party Decorations – make them, don’t buy them.

If you’re interested in saving money on Halloween decorations and keeping your kids away from their screens or spending fun evening with your family and friends, then making Halloween decorations yourself can be a great solution this year.

Whilst DIY decorations might sound less appropriate for important events like a wedding, Christmas or a big birthday party, as reality might not always meet expectations, Halloween is a great occasion to try out your own skills and creativity. Many Halloween decorations require basic DIY skills and materials. You will spend little or no money at all on materials, because you can create amazing decorations using coloured paper, cardboard, cotton, tissue paper, Sellotape.

There are plenty of DIY ideas for Halloween decorations on the internet, especially on Pinterest, which is a great inspiration source.

Use our first idea as a base and add DIY elements, for example black paper spiders, cotton web, carved pumpkin and don’t forget candles for a spooky atmosphere. Check out our Pinterest for some fun and easy DIY Halloween ideas.

4. Food as decoration.

If you are not keen on spending time and money on decorations or want to impress your guests, then why not to turn your starters and snacks into Halloween decorations?

Simple things like ketchup, coloured icing and edible pens, can be used to turn any simple foods into a spooky or fun Halloween food. For example, Ghost Meringues, bloody severed finger hot dogs, mandarin pumpkins - use edible pens to decorate those, spider cake - remove centre of a cake and fill it with spooky toy spiders. Similar recipes and ideas are all over the web, so you will easily find recipes to your taste and creative abilities.

Let your creativity take you as far as possible. At Halloween, meals like meat balls, lasagne, tacos and nachos can be served in ways never served before. Also, imagine the happy faces of your guests, when you tell them they can eat everything they see!

5. Ditch traditional pumpkin carving.

Who said it’s mandatory to carve a pumpkin for Halloween? We have an alternative, why not use a pumpkin to serve your food or drinks in?

Simply cut off a pumpkin crown, scoop out the seeds and fill the emptied pumpkin bowl with ice for bottled drinks or punch. The same can be done for serving salads, side orders and snacks.

If you want to go the extra mile, why not to serve your mains in a pumpkin? Just buy smaller size pumpkins and follow the same procedure. It’s important to remember, if you’re serving pumpkin dishes, it’s ok to put your food directly into the empty pumpkin, but if it’s not a pumpkin dish, we advise to place a bowl in first and then add the food. This will help to avoid unwanted taste of pumpkin in your guests’ food.

Another option is to paint a pumpkin or draw on it with acrylic paint. You can turn your pumpkin into a funny or a scary Halloween character, draw beautiful patterns to match your home interior or turn it into your Halloween party menu. Use Pinterest or simply Google ideas to get inspired.

We hope these ideas inspired you not only to have a very special Halloween celebration, but also gave ideas for an outstanding Autumn dinner.

Most importantly we wish you an enjoyable and stress-free preparation process, and a happy Halloween!
