Baysbrown Farm



Where? Great Langdale, Ambleside, Cumbria LA22 9JZ

If you’re looking for a secluded camping place, Baysbrown Farm is exactly what you need. The campsite is surrounded by beautiful mountains, woods and brilliant walking paths in the valley.

The picturesque setting with a river running by allows you to dive into a peaceful atmosphere. Whilst roaming around a flock of sheep and chickens will help you to introduce your kids to the world of farming and keep them engaged.

The unique feature of Baysbrown Farm is that you can’t make a booking in advance. Whilst it might obstruct many people from coming to the campsite, the destination will likely attract only true outdoor enthusiasts. Which is perfect if you want to avoid touristy places.

The 800-acre farm includes three big camping fields, which give enough private space for all campers, plus the facilities include hot showers.


Food: Even though Baysbrown is a Working farm, you can’t purchase any farm-produced goods on site. However, there are two pubs within walking distance – Wainwrights’ Inn and Brittania Inn in Chapel Stile village.

Price: £6 per adult per night, £3.50 per child, under-3s free; cars/campervans £2.50; dogs free. No credit cards.

Graig Wen



Where? Arthog, Nr Dolgellau, Gwynedd LL39 1YP

Graig Wen is one of the best campsite locations in Wales, known for its stunning and award-winning views of the Mawddach Estuary.

This large, open and comfortable campsite offers plenty of accommodation options including tent camping, caravans, B&B, self-catering cottages, yurts, cabins. Including kids and pet-friendly options.

There are many sandy beaches, castles, steam trains, zip lines and bike trails close by. You can cycle all the way to Fairbourne beach or Barmouth, besides the cycle track, there’s a family cycling path and more challenging mountain-bike trails at nearby Coed-y-Brenin.

Despite many active holiday options, this campsite is also perfect for people seeking tranquillity. If you after some star gazing and long walks along the site’s woods and streams – you’ll find it in Graig Wen Campsite.

Graig Wen has great facilities including free showers, toilets and level pitches with reliable electrics.

Blue Dolphin Holiday Park

Where? Gristhorpe Bay, Filey, North Yorkshire YO14 9PU

Blue Dolphin Holiday Park isn’t your traditional campsite, but more of a glamping holiday destination. The park is positioned right on a clifftop next to the seaside at Yorkshire coast and is perfect for enjoying some fabulous family time next to the seaside. The facilities include swimming pool, bars, restaurants, stage shows, pantomimes, live music and evening entertainment.

During the stay, adults and kids can enjoy plenty of sports and fun activities, including survive in wilderness course, water sports and countryside learning activities.

Catgill Campsite



Where? Catgill Farm, Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire BD23 6HA

Ever wanted to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park? You’ll be pleased to know that there is a small family run campsite - Catgill Campsite located right in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Surrounded by green meadows and rustic farm, it is excellent for families or couples who look for proper camping scene and tranquil break. Further, the campsite offers stunning views in the heart of Bolton Abbey.

The village railway station has some striking steam trains, including everyone’s favourite - Thomas the Tank Engine. These will make a perfect adventure not only for kids but also for adults.

The campsite’s tents-only policy will help you to avoid unnecessary noise and bustle and enjoy long walks along the river running through the valley.


Food: There is a small convenience shop, a few pubs and restaurants nearby. So, you don’t have to worry about the food. There are a few options for families and couples.

Cwtch Woodland Camp



Where? Barn Lane, Rosemarket, Pembrokeshire SA73 1LH

Not everyone likes to sleep in a tent and cook food over a campfire, but you can still experience the outdoor adventure without sacrificing your comfort.

Cwtch Woodland Camp offers the selection of 3 hand-crafted wooden eco cabins set on the 3 acres of bucolic spruce woodland. Here you can enjoy the stunning woodland views, long walks and plenty of fresh air. It’s perfect for disconnecting from your everyday life and enjoying the wild nature.

Facilities include a toilet, a hot water shower and a fully-equipped communal kitchen cabin with all necessary amenities. The romantic bit is that the campsite doesn’t have electricity and lighting is provided by solar candles, campfires and lanterns.


Food: The price includes a welcome hamper with fresh farm products. There are a few local pubs and restaurants serving fresh seafood and local food cooked with freshly grown farm products.

Price: Caban Bach & Caban Cariad £90 per night, Ty Cwtch £100 (both with a 2-night minimum). Entire site hire varies between £200 - £320 per night depending on numbers (minimum 2-night stay).

Gwern Gof Isaf Farm

This destination is for proper outdoor enthusiasts and wild nature lovers. Gwern Gof Isaf Farm offers a stunning open field campsite set right in the heart of striking Tryfan and Capel Curig mountains.

Here, you can enjoy mountain climbing, fishing, walks in stunning locations and plenty of fresh air. It will be perfect for couples and young families, who want to avoid touristy places and enjoy pure silence and raw nature. 

With 50 tent pitches, the facilities include toilet, showers, washing-up sinks, so you don’t need to compromise on your comfort.


Food: There are a few local cafes, pubs and tea rooms. You’ll have plenty of places serving locally produced products, including fresh Welsh pies, salt marsh lamb, own beer, rabbits and lambs.

Clarion Lodge Campsite & Wigwams



 Where? Menston, Ilkley, West Yorkshire, LS29 6BG

Clarion Lodge Campsite is the most traditional option out of all. It is located at the centre of the rural triangle between Leeds, Harrogate and Bradford, and accommodates 8 tent pitches, 10 caravan pitches and offers three heated wigwams for hire.

Whilst it is not as adventurous as the rest of the campsites, it is great for a big group of people or big family gathering. Or for those of us, who prefer more down to earth camping experience.

The facilities include shower and toilet facilities, hot water, free W-Fi, washing up facilities, dogs on leads are welcome on the campsite.


Food: There is a local pub located within walking distance.

Hillside Caravan Park



Where? Knayton, Yorkshire

Hillside Caravan Park is an award winning 9-acre park set outside the village of Knayton, Thirsk. This destination is perfect for couples and families seeking a peaceful countryside break. Here, you can enjoy long walks in the beautiful countryside or cycle with easy access to North York Moor National Park. Dogs are welcome, so feel free to bring them along.
