This year we’re doing our Christmas decoration blog a little differently! We know so many of you have been busy upgrading your homes and finishing some major DIY projects throughout the year, including upgrading or considering upgrading your window furnishings. With that in mind this year we want to suggest some ways to tie your Christmas décor together with your upgraded home furnishings and your recent (or soon to be purchased!) upgraded window furnishings.
Little Black Christmas Tree
In recent years black Christmas trees have become ever more popular, particularly because they make such a beautiful and dramatic contrast. Dark dramatic trees are a glamorous statement for Christmas and create a unique look to your room. Though a little unconventional, these trees will prove popular with our customers who really love our black taped wooden blinds – they’ll blend perfectly with a black Christmas tree to offer a complementary look to your space. If black isn’t your thing, you can always blend your Christmas colour scheme with any of our coloured taped wooden blinds.
Glamour and Luxe trends have been popular for several years now. Combining Art deco styling, rich tones like royal blue and ruby red, hints of rose, and gorgeous metallic accents like brushed brass and gold, the glamour trend is the perfect style to blend into your Christmas tree too. To decorate your tree to complement your glamorous rooms, style your tree in gold tones and add accents of colours taken from your furnishings. A vintage glamour home décor is also a perfect way to bring out any vintage ornaments and decorations that hold particular sentimental value to you.
Some of the blinds that work all-year round and with this Christmas tone are our brassy gold metal venetian blinds and our velvety textures of the Velvet Royal Blue Roman Blind or our Velvet Dusk Pink Roman Blind.
Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Decorations
Another increasingly popular Christmas initiative is to try to incorporate sustainable and reusable decorations. Many of us re-use our Christmas decorations year in and year out and incorporating new decorating trends doesn’t mean we need to completely overhaul everything. One tip to re-use and update is to pair existing decorations with new DIY decorations for an eclectic and vintage feel. Another way to go green this Christmas is to wrap your presents in recyclable paper or fabric or use reusable gift bags that you can keep and exchange year in and year out.
Why not also usher in a more eco-friendly 2021 by investing in our eco-friendly blinds? We recommend our popular Eco Friendly White Roller Blind or our Eco Friendly Grey Roller Blind.
Japandi / Scandinavian Décor Trends and Christmas Trees
We mentioned in our roundup of Autumn / Winter trends that Japandi (Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetic) décor is a hot trend this year. This trend is notable for its floral, bird, and tree-inspired decorations blended with elegant woods and Scandinavian staples. The best thing about this trend is its so easily incorporated into your Christmas decorations – letting you pull in soft muted pinks, pastels, and greens with bird and floral ornaments that’ll give your tree a beautiful, sophisticated look.
A little birdy also told us this theme pairs well with our bird, floral, and tree blinds such as our Loras Blackout Sonnet Roller Blind and our very popular Silver Birch Larkspur Roman Blind.
Alternative Christmas Trees
Another way to incorporate the Nordic décor with Christmas is to install a Christmas tree as a wall art. Even better it can double up as an interesting talking feature / Zoom background for the inevitable online meetings and Christmas parties.
