Embroidered Curtains

Embroidered curtains feature decorative stitching worked into the fabric, adding texture, pattern, and detail that sits above the surface of the base cloth. Embroidery can range from delicate floral and botanical motifs to bold geometric or abstract designs, and is often used to add a handcrafted, artisanal quality to a curtain. The embroidery itself adds weight and structure to the fabric, and the tactile, three-dimensional quality of the stitching means embroidered curtains tend to look particularly rich and considered at a window.

Due to the delicate nature of embroidered fabric, machine washing is not recommended as it can damage or distort the stitching and affect the base cloth. Dry cleaning is the safest option for embroidered curtains. For regular upkeep, vacuum gently on a low setting using an upholstery attachment, taking care around the embroidered areas to avoid snagging the threads. For light surface marks, blot carefully with a clean cold damp cloth, avoid rubbing, which can pull or distort the embroidery.
