Frame Type

Z Frame

Select 'Z' frame if your window is more than 15mm out of square. Please note that gaps between the frame and the wall may require caulking.

L Frame

Select 'L' frame if your window is less than 15mm out of square. Please note that gaps between the frame and the wall may require caulking.

Deco Frame

Select 'Deco' frame if you wish to install your shutter outside the recess and to the wall. This frame type will incorporate a cover strip that will hide all installation screw heads.

Enter your Split Height

What is the split height?

Split height is where do you want the two upper panels of your Tier-on-Tier to split up with the lower panels.

By default the system will split halfway from top to bottom, but you can change it depending on your circumstances, ie. you have a Sash rail, like in the example below.

*Important

The minimum distance from the bottom and the top to position the split height is 300mm (Safety are in drawing above)

Select Tilt Rod

What is a Tilt Rod?

A tilt rod is a rod made from the same chosen material as the shutter and is attached onto the front of blades to manoeuvre them to varying angles as required. The versatile change of blade angles is one of the shutters appealing features.

There are two ways to operate your plantation shutters:

Visible Tilt Rod

This is the standard option that consists of a tilt rod that is placed in the middle of each panel that you can shift up and down to tilt the blades in to the position you want.

This is a more traditional option, seen on most modern shutter models, and is the more popular option of the two.

Please be aware that you should never open the panel door using the tilt rod, this is for opening and shutting the blades only, and is not designed to support the pressure from opening the doors.

Hidden Tilt Rod

With a discrete tilt mechanism located behind the shutter door, the blades are manually tilted by hand in to the position you want. The hidden option is more contemporary.

This is normally a metal rod, around 38mm from the edge of the back of the panel, near the hinged side. This is then applied directly to the blades, the idea being to provide a 'clear' view through the blades.

However, at some angles, you could still see the edge of this rod at the back.

Blade Size

Your blade size depends on two things, the amount of light you want to let in and the style you are aiming for.

Smaller blades have a very classic, rustic look. But let in a little less light, due to the number of blades.

Bigger blades offer a modern, bright and bold alternative. With fewer blades needed, they have a distinctive look that complements contemporary styles.

Number of Panels

The number of door panels that your Shutter has depends on two factors:

The width of the Shutter.
Your own preference.

Below you can see all the panel combinations. Please note that not all the combinations will be available and this will depend on the Shutter width.

You will be presented with layout options for your shutters, where more than 1 panel is used.
You can choose how you would like to orientate the panels, for example "2 R" means the two panels will open to the right, where "1 L - 2 R" means 1 panel will open to the left, where the other two will open to the right.
Note, not all variations are available on every order due to the number of panels varying depending on the width of the window you are covering.

Ideal for larger windows as this offers the best structural rigidity.

All sides with sill cut

The sill bar is a flat section of frame that keeps the frame rigid without having a section of frame running along the sill.
