Zebra blinds, also known as Day and Night blinds, are a style of blind that feature alternating stripes of material - stripes of translucent material and stripes of solid material - that can glide between each other, giving you an open, partially open or a closed effect. These alternating stripes can resemble a zebra patterning, hence the name!
How Do Zebra Blinds Work?
You might be wondering how zebra blinds work, or ‘why the stripes’? Well, this striped fabric is folded in two, which means that you can line up the different stripes to your preferred effect. For example, overlapping the solid stripes will cover up the window and darken a room, while alternating the solid and translucent stripes will let some light in without compromising on privacy. Think roller blinds meet venetian blinds.
In terms of operation, zebra blinds work similarly to a standard roller blind. The blinds can be fully raised and lowered by the use of a chain, but with zebra blinds, you’ve got an extra option: the chain can also be used to adjust the stripes to your liking.

Why Choose Zebra Blinds For Windows?
Versatility and convenience. Zebra blinds really are the ‘do-it-all’ option, and give you so much fine control over your lighting and privacy.
Whereas your typical roller blinds can either be rolled up or down, zebra blinds give you that third option between opened and closed. It’s a perfect option for enjoying the daylight without overexposing your window or inviting in too much glare.
Zebra blinds are just as capable of providing full window coverage - even blackout coverage for a bedtime blind - and can be rolled up for a full view like any other roller blind. You’ve just got that range of extra choices, and the simple design makes it really quick and easy to switch between these different modes.
This flexibility means that zebra blinds can work pretty much anywhere in the home, whether that’s your living room, bedroom, kitchen or bathroom. They’re a great choice for a children’s room or nursery - alternating the stripes makes for perfect nap time lighting!
