Drop Information

First, we must ensure your existing head rail is compatible with our slat hanger attachment. We can supply double slot hole top hanger that will attach onto a hook type rail truck. These are the most common vertical blind slat hanging methods, but do check.
 


If you have an existing slat that you are looking to replace, then you can measure this. Remove the bottom weight and measure the total hem to hem drop of the fabric slat from the very top to the very bottom, ensure the fabric is flat with no folds or creases. This measurement is the drop size you will order.

Now measure the width of the slat, this would normally be 89mm, the most common size by far and the size we offer most of our fabrics in. The other size available, with fewer fabric options, is 127mm. When ordering ensure your selected fabric is the correct width.

If you do not have an existing slat available, then you can measure the size required at your window. With your head rail fitted, measure from the truck hook opening down to where you wish your slat to finish. This is your drop size to order. We recommend the slat should finish approximately 13mm above any obstruction such as a sill or radiator.

Next you need to determine which width of slat you require, we offer a wide range of 89mm wide fabrics and a smaller range of 127mm. Fully draw your blind across the width of the rail ensuring the trucks are fully extended, and then measure the distance between the truck hooks. The distance will be approximately 75mm for 89mm wide fabric and 115mm for 127mm fabric. Please note this can vary by a few millimetres.

Now calculate the number of slats you will require by either counting your existing ones or the number of trucks on your head rail. You may consider ordering a couple of spares just in case of any later damage. Enter the total quantity required on your order.
Finally, you need to determine if you require new bottom weights and chains with your slats. We would recommend that you order new if

What's in the box
Our Vertical Blind Slats are carefully packed with fitting instructions, and optional fixtures and fittings. Screws and wall plug fixings are not normally provided as the type required varies greatly depending upon the surfaces you are fixing to.
Please consult our fitting videos for help on how to install your made to measure product.
Measuring Slats Only
If you have an existing slat, measure from one end of the fabric to the other. This is known as the hem to hem drop or shoulder to shoulder in the trade. Alternatively if you don’t have an existing slat, measure from the bottom of the headrail hook to where you want the fabric to finish.

Patterned Vertical Blind Information
Our patterned vertical blinds are not intended to have a uniformed design.  This means that the pattern is randomised across the blind by shuffling the slats.  Just like the blinds below on the left.
