The actual measurement you take depends on where you want the blind to hang and the measurement type you select.  If you are hanging the blind in a window recess the measurement should be from side to side of the recess.

Love the blind pattern, but frays and chord very tight not a smooth movement putting the blind up and down

I am very sorry that you did receive the blind with frayed edges and that the chain operation is stiff. We certainly wouldn't expect a blind to leave us like that. I can assure you i will ensure our Production Department are made aware of this instance and that it is investigated internally to prevent a recurrence. Using the chain should be very easy with very little effort at all. The blind was exactly as disrobed on the web and looked exactly the same. No issues with product at all. Customer service is very poor first sample haven’t been dispatched and second when I eventually ordered my blind they didn’t notified me about delivery as promised in email.
