We recommend watching our how to measure video guide first.
Inside Recess
For mounting the blind inside your window recess follow these instructions.
Step 1
Measure the Width
Measure the width of your window recess in three places, top middle and bottom. Use the smallest measurement as your width.
Step 2
Measure the Drop
Measure the drop of your window recess in three places, top middle and bottom. Use the smallest measurement as your drop.
Step 3
Enter your Measurements
Go to your chosen product, enter your width and drop measurements, select Inside Recess as your sizing option.
Deductions
We will make a small deduction to the width of your blind when you select Inside Recess to accommodate the brackets. But note that the fabric will be 35mm narrower than the size given due to the chain control and brackets.
Important Notes
Factor in Obstructions
If you have obstructions within your recess e.g. tiles, measure between these two points and use this as your width measurement.
Check your Recess Depth
Ensure you have at least 5cm clearance between the front of your window recess and the edge of any obstruction.
Exact Size
To mount the blind outside the window recess and overlap on all sides, follow these instructions.
Step 1
Measure the Width
Decide how much overlap you want your blind to have on each side of your window recess. Measure this width. Note that the fabric will be 35mm narrower than the size given due to the chain control and brackets, so if you're overlapping the window take this into consideration that the total width given is bracket to bracket, not the width of the fabric.
Step 2
Measure the Drop
Measure the drop from where you want the top of the blind to start, and the bottom to finish. This is your drop measurement.
Step 3
Enter your Measurements
Go to your chosen product, enter your width and drop measurements, select Exact Size as your sizing option.
Note:
We will not make any deductions to your measurements when you select the Exact size option and this will be the span from one bracket to the other.
Important Notes
Left and Right Overlap
We recommend your blind overlaps the window recess by at least 5cm on each side (10cm overall). You will eliminate more light the more the blind overlaps the recess.
Top Overlap
We recommend your blind overlaps the top of the window recess by at least 7cm.
Bottom Overlap
If your window sill protrudes more than 5cm, you should stop your blind at this point. Be aware of obstructions such as radiators when measuring your drop.
Split Blinds
To feature multiple blinds in one window follow these instructions. Splitting blinds is ideal for larger windows or windows with a defined split.
Step 1
Mark your Split Point
Use a pencil to make a small mark where you'd like to split your blinds.
Step 2
Measure the Width - Recess Size
Measure between the edge of your window recess and your split point mark.
Step 3
Measure the Width - Exact Size
If you're mounting your split blinds outside the window recess, measure from your split point mark to where you want your blind to finish.
Step 3
Measure the Drop - Recess Size
Measure the drop of your window recess in three places. Use the smallest measurement as your width.
Measure the Drop - Exact Size
Measure the drop from where you want the top of the blind to start, and the bottom to finish. This is your drop measurement.
Step 4
Enter your Measurements
Go to your chosen product, enter your width and drop measurements, select Inside Recess or Exact Size depending on which way you want to mount the blinds.
Deductions
Inside Recess
We will make a small deduction to the width of your blind when you select ‘Recess Size" to accommodate the brackets.
Exact Size
We will not make any deductions to your measurements when you select the Exact size option. This is the size from one bracket to the other.
Important Notes
Recommened Split Point
If you have a vertical window mullion or door frame, we'd suggest using this as your split point. Alternatively use the centre of the window you’re covering.
Blind Gap
There will be a small gap between the blinds to accommodate the brackets. The gap will be determined by how close you install the central brackets.
Factor in Obstructions
If you have any obstructions within your recess such as tiles, measure between this and your split point mark, use this as your width measurement.
Bottom Overlap
Be aware of obstructions such as radiators when measuring your drop. If your window sill protrudes more than 5cm, you should stop your blind at this point.
