Curtains give your home that finishing touch of style, extra insulation and a cosy atmosphere, and made-to-measure curtains mean you can enjoy all that in any window, in the colour or print that fits your décor. Of course, it's vital that you order the right size, so why not take a look at our measuring guide to make sure?   
 

What You Need

•    Metal tape measure
•    Paper and pencil
 


•    Step One: Calculate the width
 

•    Measure the full length of your track or pole and NOT simply the window itself. Some tracks have a centre overlap. If so, measure it separately and add it to your end-to-end measurement. Poles, however, just need the width measuring, not taking any decorative end pieces into consideration. The measurement you take here is your total pole or track width that your curtains will be covering.
We make allowances for the fullness and gather, calculated from the track or pole size entered.

What You Need

•    Metal tape measure

•    Step Two: Calculate the finished drop

•  For a pencil pleat or pinch pleat heading, measure from the top of the track or the small eye on the ring of the pole to just 1.5cm above the floor, or approximately 15-20cm below the window sill - you can use your best judgement for where you'd like your curtain drop to end. This is your finished hem to hem drop.
Both headings can be adjusted when fitting using the multi pocket tape and hooks for Pencil and the pin on hook for Pinch pleat.

•    For an eyelet heading, measure from the top of the pole to 1.5cm above the floor, or approximately 15cm to 20cm below the window sill depending on where you'd like the curtains to hang to. This is your finished top of pole to hem drop. Approximately 3cm of curtain will be added above the eyelet to stand above the pole. This does not affect the hanging length of your curtains, but creates a finished look - you don't need to account for this additional 3cm in your measurements if ordering from Direct Blinds.

Heading Options

When we refer to the heading of your curtain, we have 3 options available, Pencil Pleat, Triple Pinch Pleat & Eyelet heading.  Each will provide a different finish so we know it will be important to make sure you pick the right option for your track or pole.

Pencil Pleat This is our standard heading option, it will offer a wonderful full finish to your curtains. This finish will work for a pole or a track making it versatile within the home and will compliment all fabric choices.

Triple Pinch Pleat A more formal and polished finish for the curtains. This is an elegant more traditional finish for the curtains, if this is a heading type you are interested in you would need to get in touch with our customer service team for a bespoke quotation. 

Eyelet This heading is suitable only for a pole. Our eyelets will arrive ready stitched into to fabric and available to hang on arrival. We have a range of 4 eyelet colours, perfect to co ordinate with most popular pole colours currently available. There is an additional cost involved when adding the eyelets, this will be calculated when you have entered the measurements of the curtains. Please speak to our customer service team if you would like to see a sample of the eyelet to colour match your pole.
