Faux silk curtains are made from synthetic fabrics, typically polyester, woven to replicate the smooth, lustrous sheen of real silk. They offer a similar aesthetic to silk curtains at a more accessible price point, and are generally more durable and easier to care for than genuine silk. Faux silk curtains have a slightly formal, polished look that suits traditional and glamorous interiors, and work particularly well in living rooms and dining rooms.
Faux silk curtains are generally more practical to care for than real silk, however due to the high-quality fabrics and poly/cotton lining used in our curtains, machine washing isn't recommended as it can damage the delicate fabric and cause the dye to bleed. For regular upkeep, vacuum your curtains every fortnight using an upholstery attachment. For creases, use a steamer or iron on a steam setting held away from the fabric surface, taking extra care with faux silk as the sheen can be affected by direct heat.
If you have a stubborn stain, gently blot with a clean cold damp cloth, avoid stain remover or detergent as this can affect the dye. For anything more stubborn, dry cleaning is the best option.
