Add a pop of colour to your home

Different colours, different moods

When you’re deliberating on your living space’s colour palette, be aware that the colours you choose will have an immediate impact on your mood. From different colour schemes, you’ll enjoy a feeling of calmness or a sense of being invigorated. Or, indeed, something between the two.
Different colours create energy and have a huge impact on depth of field. That’s powerful, and when the colours are used intelligently, you can create a beacon that can be utilised for regular inspiration.

Is your home a haven for guests?

If you have guests calling in at your home on a frequent basis, bear in mind that the colours you choose will likely offer a strong message to those guests. Colour has an instantaneous and very large impact on the atmosphere. For example, when you enter into a home that is dark, you’ll find that your mood changes instantly.
That said, choosing colour schemes in your home that transmit the message you wish to convey to your guests will ensure that guests ‘get’ your personality, and they inherently understand the overall aesthetic.
Kitchens are excellent rooms to paint in yellow since yellow brightens mood and heightens the sense of energy. And since yellow goes well with pretty much every colour, you can complement the paintwork with a set of yellow roller blinds. Or, if you prefer curtains, green curtains or orange curtains are ideal as well.

Bold colours, courageous patterns

Colours and patterns that are bold and courageous are great but do keep them in moderation. Colour proportion really must be proper to the palette as well as pleasing to the eye.
You should be careful in avoiding overmixing patterns. If you do overmix the patterns you choose will compete with one another.
So, with that said, it’s good to offset different patterns by implementing neutral breaks. This will establish a sense of balance and will not create a challenge to the eye.
As an example, in your bedroom, if your pillow and duvet covers tend to be busy and multicoloured, match those with a set of beige curtains. Possibly, depending on the tone of pink - the lighter, the better - a set of pink curtains can also work well.
Grounding your room with neutral colours allows you to add a variety of colourful highlights such as pillows, rugs, blankets.

Unique colour themes

In each room in your home, you can also successfully adhere to unique themes. However, it is, at the same time, important that you maintain a good sense of continuity throughout.
When you decorate your home each room can have the look and feel of distinctiveness in comparison to the others. This allows you, if you wish to utilise a totally different colour scheme, to use it in every space.
There’s a trick to it and that is to create a sense of cohesiveness. And to do that you should choose complementary colours wherever rooms connect.
