In order to work out if there is an issue with your wooden blinds lowering, it’s worth checking that you’re lowering them in the correct way.

For the correct way to lower your blinds, follow these steps:

  1. Holding all cords on the right-hand side of the blind at an equal length, pull the cords towards yourself and to the left.
  2. When you have done this, if they are working correctly you will hear a click. This is where the brass cog in the mechanism releases.
  3. After the click, the blind should lower.

If you are unable to lower the blind, try following the instructions below to release the cord lock. You will find the cord lock on the right-hand side. Check that it isn’t releasing correctly before following the below steps.

To release the cord lock, follow these steps:

  1. You will need a screwdriver or something similar.
  2. Take the blind out of the brackets.
  3. Looking into the headrail on the right-hand side, you will see the cord lock mechanism.
  4. Using one hand, pull the control cords towards the centre of the blind as if you are lowering the blind. As you do this, gently push the brass cog in the mechanism down.
  5. You should see the cog drop and this will release the cords.
  6. Fit the blind back in the brackets and test the mechanism. You should now be able to release the cords to raise and lower the blind.
